While visiting the Safranbolu Old Town, we intended to find more information at the Tourist Information Office about this UNESCO site. Instead, my wife and I ran into the Sefik Dizdar Art House by accident. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Tourist Information Office, where we met Sevil and Fatma, a pleasant experience that we will never forget. Sevil and Fatma welcome us on a tour of the Art House. Displayed there are many art works, developed by Fatma and other artists, in many different creative forms. Fatma is incredibly talented. She used and combined many seemingly ordinary materials to develop creative and impressive art works. Among them, we like her mosaic and painting works in particular because of her amazing ideas and creative mind. Sevil translated for Fatma and described her ideas and works to us so that we understand how they were initiated, designed, and created. We enjoyed our hours-long conversations with both Sevil and Fatma, their warm reception, and the Turkish coffee offered to us. If you happen to visit the Safranbolu Old Town, this Art House is a place you shouldn’t miss if you are into art works. Our time was well spent there.
